Big Timber is positioned at 45 50 0 N 109 57 1 W (45.833224, -109.950361). According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 0.95 square miles (2.46 km2), of which, 0.92 square miles (2.38 km2) is territory and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) is water. Big Timber has a cool semi-arid climate (Koppen BSk) bordering on a humid continental climate (Dfb).
